I'm Matthew Jagielski, a PhD student at Northeastern University (here's my professional website).
I'm planning on using this blog to talk about the following:
- Research. Mine falls broadly into the intersection of security and machine learning. Some recent topics of interest are poisoning attacks (malicious training data) and applying machine learning to connected car applications. I'll probably also talk about other people's research I think is cool (probably mostly machine learning, cryptography, and security)!
- Fitness. I've been running for quite a long time now, and recently started biking regularly (a few triathlons under my belt) and lifting weights. One cool project in this area I'm planning on doing is talking about runs I do when I go traveling. I have a bit of a backlog including:
- Boston, MA
- Mountain View, CA
- Beaverton, OR
- Maui, HI
- Tel Aviv, Israel
- Fighting games. I'm a bad competitive Super Smash Bros. (N64) player, and have been playing around with Melee, DBFZ, and Rivals of Aether. Not sure exactly what I'll write here, but I might try to do match analysis or theorycrafting. I play Yoshi in both smash games and dabble with Falco in Melee. In Rivals, I like Absa and Ori, and am still learning the basics of DBFZ, so no preference.
I don't think anybody is going to be interested in all of these areas, so I'll set up some labels to partition posts into one (or two?) of these areas.
